Murder Unsolved: The Story of Little Christine Jessop

Christine Jessop of Queensville, Ontario, on a fateful day back in October 1984, was just nine-years-old, and craving bubble-gum, when her school bus dropped her off at the end of the driveway at about 3:50 p.m.

After learning that her parents weren't yet home on this cool autumn afternoon, she then filled her tiny lungs with the crisp Canadian air—which still had hints of late summer wild flowers, hopped on her bicycle and sped-off down the road to a nearby store.

The fenders on her bike rattled loudly as the new-fallen leaves crunched like cornflakes under her wheels. With visions of penny-candy filling her head, the little girl would have no way of knowing the horror that was about to befall her.

Christine would never be seen alive again.

Later that night, according to a York Regional Police commission's report, the local law enforcement, not the RCMP, "responded immediately," racing to the little girls home with a multitude of emergency vehicles, including a dog handler.

One specific K-9 named "Ryder," whose handler was a Constable named Robertson, stated later in court that he had used Christine's sweater for scent, as he canvassed the area near her home.

The officer then stated that "when he and the dog approached a beige-colored Honda, belonging to Guy Paul Morin, one of the Jessop's neighbors, "Ryder began sniffing in a pronounced way and put its front paws up against the glass on the passenger side door."

The weeks passed by painfully slow, but then, on December 31, 1984, almost thirty-miles-away on Ravenshoe Road in the Durham Region, Cristine's tiny lifeless body was discovered.

Naked from the waist down with her legs spread, Cristine was swearing "a beige turtleneck, a blue pullover sweater, a blouse, and white socks with blue stripes. Her blue corduroy pants and running shoes were placed neatly beside her feet. "

Police crime-scene reports also stated that "her panties were found at her right foot along with a necklace with hair attached, later identified as Christine's."

The subsequent autopsy, performed on January 2, 1985, found multiple stab wounds, and listed that as the cause of death.

In April of the same year, with not much to go on, Christine's above-mentioned next-door neighbor, Morin, then 23-years-old, was arrested and charged.

Morin's car, which was the supposed transport vehicle, was also seized and criminally-processed by the Ontario Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto.

Not a drop of anything in the way of substantial evidence was ever found by OCFS.

Morin was then rightfully acquitted in a highly-publicized February, 1986 trial. But prosecutors were far from satisfied, especially when, in their minds, the "right" verdict had not been handed down.

The corrupt Ontario crown-prosecutor's office decided to appeal the Judge's decision, and ordered a new trial.

On July 30, 1992, by using jail-house-informants, tampering with evidence, etc., the prosecution finally got what they wanted. Morin was convicted, and sentenced to life behind bars in one of Canada's most notorious Prisons, the Medieval-looking, Kingston Penitentiary.

Knowing in his heart-of-hearts that one day he would be free, and not wanting to get categorized with convicted rape-hounds, and pedophiles, Morin requested no special conditions which would see him being housed in 'PC' aka (protective custody.)

Instead Morin spent his years behind bars in the 'GP' aka (general population.)

If nothing else, at least he would have his dignity.

First arrested in 1986, the nine-years of his life he lost is something that Morin, age 32, knew he could never get back or replace. However, as a result of sophisticated DNA testing , he did gain back his life and his innocence on January 23, 1995.

In the meantime, Christine Jessop has no life nor has she had any Justice. Her real murderer is either dead, in jail on other crimes, or still on the loose.

"Somebody got murdered on New Year’s Eve
Somebody said dignity was the first to leave
I went down where the vultures feed
I would’ve gone deeper, but there wasn’t any need"
