Warning Graphic Photos/Video: Brazilian Nightclub Fire Victims

Police are now deciding whether they will lay manslaughter charges against four people who were  involved in a deadly Jan. 27 blaze that ripped through the Kiss nightclub located in the southern Brazilian college town of Santa Maria.

Detained, are the two owners of the club and two band members who, sometime after 2 a.m., involuntarily lit an outdoor flare that, according to the latest news, ignited the overhead soundproofing material.

The soundproofing—made from a highly-inflammable synthetic foam—burned rapidly, spreading toxic fumes, which in turn caused death from smoke inhalation, stampeding patrons, and asphyxiation.

An additional 126 people remain hospitalized.

Below: Crushed and fixed into helpless poses for the rest of eternity, crime scene photos show the charred remains of some of the 245 university students who perished amid the confusion, the smoke, and finally, the darkness.
